Privacy notice

In short

Power Close doesn't collect your data. It has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising, and no network code at all: what it reads about your tabs stays in your browser, and nothing it does is sent to us or to anyone else. This website sets no cookies and has no analytics either.

Who we are

Power Close is made by Arabesque Labs Ltd, the controller of the personal data described in this notice. We are a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 16408080, with our registered office at 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ.

The extension

To find the tabs to close, Power Close reads your open tabs' addresses, in your browser, when you use it. If you turn the settings on, it also reads their titles, or the text of their pages. It reads them only to match them against what you type, to count them and to close them, and it keeps none of it: not your tabs, not what you type, and not your history.

The permissions it asks your browser for are for that alone:

• Tabs, to read your tabs' addresses and titles, and to close them.
• Menus, to add “Close all tabs from this domain” to the right-click menu.
• Storage, to keep your settings.
• Scripting and access to all sites, only if you turn on matching the text on the page: to read pages' text when you open the popup. It asks for this access when you turn the setting on, and gives it back when you turn it off. (In Safari, which shows an extension tabs' addresses only on sites it may read, the access is asked for when you install it.)

Your settings (which tabs match, the suggestions, the right-click menu) are kept in your browser's synced storage. If you sync your browser, your browser's maker (Google, Mozilla or Apple) copies them to your other devices, under its own privacy policy; if you don't, they stay on this device. They are only your choices of settings, and we can't see them.

The stores

You install Power Close from the Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons or, for Safari, Apple's App Store. Google, Mozilla and Apple run those stores, and handle what they collect under their own privacy policies. They show us only totals, such as how many people have installed it, which don't identify anyone.

This website

power-close.com has no accounts, forms, analytics or advertising, sets no cookies, and loads nothing from other sites: its fonts are served from here. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes visitors' IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, and may keep short-lived logs of requests. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to reply and to continue the conversation. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries. We delete correspondence within two years of our last contact, unless we are required by law to keep it.

Issues and discussions on GitHub are public, and handled by GitHub under its own privacy policy. Please don't put anything private in them.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data or share it for marketing. The little we hold is held by the service providers we rely on to run our email and this website, some of whom may process it outside the UK under appropriate safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, or ask for it in a portable format. Email us and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Changes

If we change how Power Close or this website handles personal data, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top.
